Asthma Prevention Is Very Possible So Do Not Accept The Talk Of Defeatists Who Claim That It Is Built In Genetically

Don't listen to the defeatist talk of those who say that asthma is controlled by genetics so that you can't do anything to prevent it.

Asthma prevention is not impossible. Experts jump to the conclusion that because you are much more likely to get restricted breathing if both your parents have it that proves that it is genetic. Who knows, there may be a genetic predisposition, but there is another explanation.

You and your parents may eat millet porridge as the main part of your food each day. Your parents may have taught you to accept rice as the main part of what you eat. Your father and mother my consider white bread and potatoes as the important part of what they eat, and you agree with them. None of these things are considered to be genetic, even though they are passed down from your parents.

This means that your attempts to prevent breathing difficulties are not doomed to failure just because of a genetic predisposition. You really can cure your own lung congestion.

How To Prevent Asthma

Your plan should start before your child is conceived. Education for yourself will carry your new attitudes down to your children. If you have the disease yourself, get rid of it with the buteyko cure, because if you are short of breath while you are pregnant, your baby will be desperately short of the oxygen it needs, and much more likely to have congested airways. So the first step in reducing risk factors is to get rid of your own illness.

The next step is to make sure that you will be breathing good air while you are pregnant. You shouldn't get pregnant if you are unable to give up smoking, because you will be condemning your children to a life of sickness. But smoke isn't the only bad thing in the air. Most houses have pollutants being given off by their carpets and by the furniture and by paints and several other things as well. Grow indoor-plants chosen to absorb these pollutants. You can get a book on the subject in New Zealand or in the USA.

Get a couple of pets before your child is born. A child raised with one pet is less likely to get this chronic lung disease raising a child with two pets is a great step towards healthier living.

It has been shown that breast-feeding at least until two years of age is a great way to overcome the triggers.

Oh, if your own problem is stopping the exercise induced variety the secret is to work up to your exercise gradually. Walking is a great exercise. So don't believe that avoidance of exercise difficulties means that you should never exercise.

Control your breathing as you walk. For instance, time your breathing by your footsteps. Breathe in for 1 step and see how many steps you can breathe out for before you take your next breath. As a beginner you might only manage one step breathing out. My pattern is 7 steps on the level, 8 downhill, 6 slightly uphill, and 4 going up steps. You are taking back control over your own body from your habits, so it could be a fight, but it is worth it.

Another trigger you can avoid is infant vaccination, and yet another is the use of antibiotics before the age of 6 months.

What's the best asthma prevention of all? Teach your children the buteyko method as soon as they are old enough to understand it. It won't just cure your airways congestion, but a whole list of other diseases.
